I see the expansion cards on Ebay for a treo 700wx, but I am worried about compatibility issues. The price is good but I want to get the biggest one I can (probably 4GB), and I would rather step up a few bucks instead of getting something unreliable because it's cheap.
Are these cards for sale reliable? Is there a way I can confirm compatibility before purchasing?

There are a lot of 'fake' cards for sale - and sadly ebay seems to be a major source of these. I'd rather pay a little more - and get them from a 'reputable' supplier like Amazon or Adorama.
