I just bought a digital camera! I need to find a memory card for it. Are all memory cards the same size?

If they are not how will I find the size that I need?

Look in your manual or in your camera, they always put a small capacity one in the camera.

Sony takes memory stick

Olympus takes Xd cards

Canon takes sd cards
Reply:No they're not all the same!

Your camera should come with instructions about what equipment to use with it. Each brand or model varies... If you can't find the memory card type by looking through the instructions, your camera may indicate the type on it. Mine does. If all else fails, google your camera's model to learn about it online.

Once you find your right type, make sure to buy cards with lots of memory like a Gig or few. These will ensure that you can take hundreds of pictures/ videos before having to erase any + they are usually the best value for your money even though they are more expensive.
Reply:no they are not all the same size. below are some questions that should help youo to find out what you need to know.

1) did your camera come with a card in it or packaged with it?

2) did it come with an instruction manual?

3) what make/model is it? perhaps there is a manual online you can view.
Reply:Check your instruction manual. It will usually tell you exactly what type of memory card to get.
Reply:Nope... let us know what kind of camera you have and maybe we can help you... or look in your camera manual.
