All but three compact digital cameras use SD memory cards as do other devices like Palm Pilots, etc.
Two cameras (Olympus and some Fujifilm) use xD cards (and they are not top sellers)
Only one camera used the Memory Stick, Sony.
With such a large volume of SD cards are being made, the costs of course drop.
CF cards are what the pro cameras use (and we use a lot of them) cost just about as much as SD's
Why are xD memory cards so expensive compared to SD and other memory cards?
You can do panoramic pictures with XD Cards
