Is there a way to reset the camera so it'll read cards again?

Follow the advice given by Elvis. If this doesn't work you have a camera problem and it will need service. If it is new or under warranty contact the place where you bought it or Canon Technical Support. If it is not under warranty, you will have to have it repaired, or replace the camera (non warranty repairs often cost as much or more that replacing your camera so if you decide to have it repaired, make sure you have a repair price quotation before you go ahead with a repair - it may be less expensive to replace the camera).
Reply:I just did a Canon E50 error search...and it appears that this is a common error with the S400.


If it's not the actual memory card, then it could be the memory card contact pins inside the camera which may be bent or damaged.


I'm not sure if it can be fixed. Check out some of the links below for possible solutions.





If you have no luck...then I would suggest you buy a new camera. The S400 is quite outdated, having been released around 4 1/2 years ago. It's had a good life....
