How necessary are gamecube memory cards?

Can a Gamecube save any games without an external memory card?

If so, about how many saved games can it hold?

How necessary are gamecube memory cards?
Memory card for GC = ability to save games

No Memory Card for GC = no way to save anything.
Reply:the number of blocks required fora saved game vary from game to game. some take more if theres more info that needs saving and some barely take a few blocks. Best bet is to get the 250 block memory card. itll run u about 10-20 bux. Report Abuse

Reply:Well let me put it this way

No memory card = No saved games

So...

The answer is yes you need a memory card, it does not save on it's own and the amount of saved game that it can hold depends on how much memory you buy (I.E...1 gigabyte could hold maybe 4-5 games worth)
Reply:No, you need a memory card to save a game.

It depends what game you get and what size memory card you buy.
Reply:Can 1GB really only hold about 3-5 saved gamecube games? All the ones I see for sale are only 16MB or 64MB.

No. More like 1 MB can hold 3-5 game saves.
