Do large memory cards use more power in digital cameras?

I was told that if I buy, say, an 8gb memory card for my digital camera, that the camera will consume more power than if I purchase a 1gb card. Is this true? Or is the size of the card irrelevant?





It's a sony cybershot digital camera, with a memory stick pro duo memory card.

yes its true and only some sonny cyber shot cameras can hold 8g some times the memory is too big forr the phone to handle so i think its best to go with 2 memory cards of 1 or 2 g in each chip thats what i did and its been working for me

Flash memory is based on store and erase 'cycles'. They dont have to have power constantly going through them to store info like RAM or something.





Power is used momentarily during the time something is actually written to the disk, and then again when that same piece is read from. All the time in between, the card is just sitting there. Thats why the card doesnt suddenly get erased if you take it out of the camera.
